Privacy Policy
Lee Mathematics Tuition ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Information We Collect
We may collect and hold personal information about you and your child, including:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers and postal or suburb location
- Your child’s year level, school, subjects and academic needs
- Lesson records, progress notes and assessment results
- Payment and billing information (processed by our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers)
- Records of your communications with us (calls, SMS, email and messaging)
- Website and advertising interaction data, including cookies and similar technologies
How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate and improve our tutoring services
- Match your child with a suitable tutor and personalise their learning plan
- Schedule lessons, issue invoices and process payments
- Communicate with you about your child’s progress, bookings and account
- Send you marketing and promotional communications (you may opt out at any time)
- Measure the effectiveness of our advertising, and improve how we reach families who may benefit from our services
- Detect and prevent fraud, and meet our legal obligations
Disclosure of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients, and only for the purposes described in this policy:
- Our tutors and staff, so they can deliver and support your child’s lessons.
- Service providers who operate our business systems — including our customer relationship management, scheduling, telephony and messaging, payment processing, document, hosting and email delivery providers. These providers process information on our behalf and are bound to use it only for the services they provide to us.
- Advertising and analytics platforms — see the section below.
- Where required or authorised by law, or where you have consented.
Advertising, Measurement and Audiences
We advertise our services online, including on platforms operated by Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google.
To measure whether our advertising is effective, and to reduce the amount of irrelevant advertising shown to people, we may share limited identifiers — such as your email address or phone number — with these platforms. Where we do so, these identifiers are first converted into an irreversible cryptographic hash on our systems, so the platform receives a scrambled value rather than your actual email address or phone number. The platform uses this only to match records it already holds, and to help us:
- understand which of our advertisements led to enquiries and enrolments;
- avoid showing ads to people who are already our customers; and
- build audiences of people whose characteristics are similar to our existing customers (commonly called “lookalike” audiences), so that our advertising reaches families more likely to find it relevant.
We do not provide these platforms with your child’s academic records, lesson notes, progress reports or assessment results for advertising purposes.
You can opt out. If you would prefer that we do not include your information in advertising measurement or audience creation, email us at jonathan@leemathematicstuition.com and we will remove you. This will not affect the tutoring services we provide to you.
Overseas Disclosure
Some of the service providers and platforms described above store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they or their sub-processors operate. By providing your information to us, you acknowledge that it may be disclosed to overseas recipients on this basis. We take reasonable steps to ensure such recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Storage and Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We retain information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to understand how it is used, and to measure the performance of our advertising. You can accept or refuse cookies through your browser settings; refusing them may affect some features of the site.
Access, Correction and Complaints
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Contact us at jonathan@leemathematicstuition.com.
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us first and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, with its effective date shown above.
